RAILWAY CAT PROJECT

Also known as Train Yard Cat Project

Sphynx Rescue was officially founded in 2020, allowing us to focus on and provide specialised care for our beloved sphynx cats.. but prior to that we have been involved in helping rehabilitate and rehome cats throughout Melbourne, Victoria both privately and by volunteering with other rescue organisations.

The Railway Cat Project (previously Train Yard Cat Project) is a special interest initiative of ours, as our founder and a number of our volunteers work or are involved in Melbourne's railways. We are often discovering stray or community cats making their homes in train yards, sheds, etc. and we do our best to contain these cats and get them the care they need. Living outdoors is unsafe enough, let alone surrounded by trains and dangerous machinery, so when left alone in the train yards their life expectancy isn't high. This means often the railway cats we catch are quite young and can happily adapt to the joys of indoor cat life, we love being able to find them caring forever homes.

Funds for our railway cat project are separate to our Sphynx Rescue Australia funds, but we will share other resources as needed.
